This is part of the glass furnace, where batches of materials that glass is made out of are automatically pushed into the furnace to be melted. Temperature of melting is 1200-1400'C, you can see the glowing of it from the inside of the furnace.
It was pretty damn scalding to get anywhere near that thing to get a picture of it!
